No age is too young for a stage debut if you are a talented dancer. And if your
guru happens to be Maddali Usha Gayatri, no audience is too distinguished. Here's
a girl of 14 on stage, and here's an audience that would normally be seen at the
Guru's performance. Obviously then, the girl appears set for a sterling career.
Abhirami is a 10th standard student of St. Anthony's High School, and has been learning classical dance from the tender age of 4 years. She learnt the basic steps of Bharatanatyam at the Sri Thyagaraja Gana Sabha, and later, fascinated by the Kuchipudi style of dance, joined the Nritya Kinnera School Of Dance at 10 years of age to learn under under Guru Maddali Usha Gayatri.
Abhirami's Ranga Pravesham performance on the 20th is the culmination of hard and dedicated work put up by her under the guidance of Maddali Usha Gayatri. Prior to this, Abhirami performed along with her Guru at various places in the twin cities, and also at Vizag, Rajamundry, Tirupati, Mumbai and New Delhi.
Usha Gayatri will assist Abhirami on Nattuvangam, and will be accompanied by S Charya on the mridangam, Sai Kumar on the violin, Venkatesh on the flute, Srikant on the ghatam and Srivalli Sarma on vocals this evening.
Dr Akkineni Nageshwara Rao will be the chief guest and Professor N Gopi and Padmasri Dr Sobha Naidu will preside.
