The formidable Lord of Dance, Nataraja, will be invoked once again, as A P Nivedita gives a stupendous Kuchipudi dance recital, this evening. A fine exponent of kuchipudi, B Ramadevi has written and choreographed the five songs, that will be performed by her daughter Nivedita.
The recital will begin in the traditional manner of offering prayers to Lord Vinayaka. The Shiva Ashtakam follows next, where the danseuse executes brilliant sculpturesque postures relating to Lord Shiva's legends. Dances depicting Lakshmi, goddess of wealth and Lord Rama form the remaining body of the recital. The climax is a piece of exquisite virtuosity in which Lord Krishna's childhood stories are narrated through the drama of dance.
Ramadevi has completed two more books in Telugu about Kuchipudi Natyam. These works cover the entire syllabus of Certificate and Diploma courses that are conducted by the A.P government and organised by P S Telugu University. This collection will also be released today evening. The Minister for Culture and Sports, M Satyanarayana Rao will grace the occasion, as chief guest.
