REVIEW FOR KUCHIPUDI BY SRINIVAS RAMANUJAM & GROUP
Shilparamam, as part of its weekend program of dance, is presenting a Kuchipudi dance recital by M S Ramanujam & group, this Sunday. Ramanujam, along with Maheshwari and Pavani, will start the recital with Vinayaka Stuthi, followed by Annamacharya Keertana Tandanana Ahi, Dashavataralu and finally the Tillana.
The orchestra support for the dance will be provided by D S V Sastry with the vocals, Voleti Rangamani with the nattuvangam, Rajagopalachari on the mridangam, Muralidharachari on the violin and Venkatesh on the flute.
Abhinaya Darpana Arts Academy was established in 1981, by Voleti Rangamani, a senior Kuchipudi dancer who has revived the centuries old traditional dance of alaya sampradaya nrityas. Alaya Sampradaya Nritya is an interesting dance form where the dancer draws pictures of Goddess Durga's lion or Kumaraswamy's peacock or Goddess Lakshmi's aasan (the lotus), while dancing on the rangoli lying scattered on the stage.
She is the daughter and disciple of renowned Kuchipudi dancer-teacher, Late C R Acharyulu. She learnt Kuchipudi from Vedantam Prahlada Sarma and has breathed life into the dying art of alaya sampradaya nrityas. She has demonstrated this art many places in India and abroad.
Please contact Voleti Rangamani at 2441-1931 or M S Ramanujam at 98496-40031 for further details.
