The Chowmahalla Palace Board is organising a five-day music and dance festival from 29th October to 2nd November, at the Chowmahalla Palace. The five- day festival, called the Chowmahalla Mubarak - A Celebration Of Living Heritage, will feature several eminent musicians and dancers, including Dr. Mangalampalli Balamurali Krishna, Vikku Vinayakram, Ajay Chakraborthy, Hariharan, Shallu Jindal, the Devan Drone Group, and students of Vipanchee Natayalaya.
On 31st October, the third day of the festival, the evening starts with a Kuchipudi dance recital by Shallu Jindal. Shallu Jindal is a New Delhi based social worker and Kuchipudi dancer. Born in Punjab, she is married to Navin Jindal, a Lok Sabha Member and leading industrialist. Her interests range from art and culture to interior design and fashion.
Shallu Jindal was initiated into the tradition of Kuchipudi by her gurus Raja and Radha Reddy. Today, she is an accomplished danseuse who has performed both in India and internationally.
As Vice President of the Flag Foundation of India, she has authored a book called ‘Tiranga: A Celebration of the National Flag’, and has launched a travelling art exhibition which has around 100 works on the Tiranga, as well as an audio album ‘Tiranga Tera Anchal'. She is the founder-president of the Young FICCI Ladies Organisation (YFLO).
She is a member of the executive council of the Children’s Film Society of India (CFSI). She is actively involved in community development projects in Raigarh (Chattisgarh), and Kurukshetra, Naveen Jindal’s constituency. She is also at work on a museum project in Chattisgarh, to promote tribal art and craft.
