Under the aegis of the All India Crafts Mela, Shilparamam is presenting a Kuchipudi recital by Dr. Saraswati Rajatesh on 26th December at 7:30 pm.
Dr. Saraswati Rajatesh, a dental surgeon by profession, chose dance as her first love, despite not hailing from a family of dancers. She started her training in dance at the age of 6 years under the tutelage of Samrajyam Ramana Rao, and had her Rangapravesam in Bharatanatyam style in Hyderabad in 1988.
Dr. Rajatesh then developed a keen interest in Kuchipudi and completed her Diploma in Kuchipudi from Telugu University, Hyderabad. She also learned Kuchipudi under Natyaguru Dr. Vempati Chinnasatyam, Guru Vedantam Ramu and Guru Chinta Adinarayana Sarma. She is also trained in Kathak from Maya Rao and Bharathi, and in Mohiniattam from Guru 'Karnataka Kalasri' Sreedevi Unni, Bangalore.
Married to Rajatesh and settled in Bangalore, she now trains students at her institute 'Nrithyaangana'. Currently, she is pursuing her post-graduation in Hospital Management from Canada University.
