The gods have always believed in traditional forms of dance, and the gods have more-or-less always been happier than us humans, so there ought to be a correlation. Some gods are getting on stage here - gods of Kuchipudi, at least - and so here's your chance to seek happiness, or see good dancing, at any rate.
Abhyudaya Kalakshetra is organizing a Kuchipudi ballet festival for four days. The first day will see Bhama Kalapam, and this will be followed by Gajananeeyam, Sri Rama Katha Saaram and Sashirekha Parinayam on the subsequent days.
Now here's the great part - Natya Kaladhara Pasumarthy Ramalinga Sastry
is organizing all the programs. Hailing from the traditional Kuchipudi family
of Pasumarthy, Ramalinga Sastry had his training under the famous gurus Vedantam
Parvatheesam and Vempati China Satyam. He also learnt Bharatanatyam at the Kalakshetra
in Chennai. Ramalinga Sastry is also proficient in mridangam and Carnatic vocal.
This exponent is choreographing all the above ballets.
