As part of its weekly program of music and dance, Shilparamam is presenting a Kathak dance recital by Y Usha, on 29th June. Usha will be performing 4 items. The first will consist of Akanda Mandala Karam Slogam, Phool Vandana, some Tukdas and some Teentals. She will then move on to the second item, a Meera Bhajan, which will be followed by Mahan Ghath Dhav, a Surdas bhajan. The fourth and final item will be Tarana. She will be accompanied by Ravindar Raja Guru on the padanth (narration), Jangaiah on the vocals and Prakash on the tabla.
Y Usha, an upcoming artist, has been giving performances for more than 5 years. She hails from a musical family. Her father late Y Satyanarayana was a renowned sitarist, and her brother Y Rajakumar is following in his father's footsteps and is now a popular sitarist himself.
Usha learnt the art under the tutelage of her guru Ravindra Raja, and completed her diploma in Kathak from the Annamacharya College Of Music And Dance, with a gold medal. She has performed at various locations, and has given more than 100 performances so far, and has also won various prizes at the district, state and national level competitions.
