On the occasion of the Devi Navratris, Shilparamam is presenting a Kathak recital by P Ravinder Raju & group, on 18th October. Ravinder Raju along with his troupe of disciples, namely Rajani, Usha, Vasantha, Ambika, Uma, Ganesh and Abdullah Khan, will start the recital with a Vishnu Vandana and Phool Vandana, followed by Pragade Preeth Nandalala, a Meera Bhajan, Naina Laageri, Mayya Mori Main Nahin Maakhan Khayo and finally the Tarana.
The orchestra for the recital will be provided by Jangaiah Master with the vocals, Raghunath on the tabla, Pramod on the flute, Srikanth on the rhythm pads and Saidul Rehman on the Sarangi.
Ravinder Raju is a Kathak lecturer at the Annamacharya Music & Dance College, Hyderabad, since 1987, and is also a graded artiste of Doordarshan. He is as good in Kuchipudi and Bharatanatyam as in Kathak. He has a diploma in all the three dance forms from Sri Thyagaraja Government College of Music & Dance, Hyderabad.
He has learnt Kathak from late R Gopal Rao, Kuchipudi from Dr. Uma Rama Rao and Bharatanatyam from P S Rama Murthy. He has performed at many places, such as Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Mangalore, Chennai and Lucknow. He was also presented with a National level award in the year 2002.
