One of India's most popular fusion bands, Indian Ocean, will be performing live on 17th March, 2011, at Hard Rock Cafe.
The band's line-up includes Susmit Sen playing the guitars, Asheem Chakravarthy handling the tabla and vocals, Amit Kilam at the drums and Rahul Ram on the bass guitar.
Over the last 21 years, this quartet from Delhi has attracted a huge following for its music that ranges from political anthems to meditative spiritual ballads. Their hit albums include Kandisa ('00), Indian Ocean ('93), Jhini ('93), the original sound track for the feature film Black Friday ('05) and Desert Rain ('97).
The band has performed in over 450 concerts across 5 continents, and has had the honor of performing at festivals such as Pick Of The Fringe ('01) and Edinburgh Fringe Festival. The team has also performed in places like Trafalgar Square (London), Melbourne ('02), Perth ('03), New Zealand ('02), Indonesia ('02), Singapore ('01 & '03), Germany ('04), Reunion ('04) and Japan ('02).
Indian Ocean recently completed its ICCR tour of East Asia, covering China, Japan and Vietnam. The band has performed numerous times in India, and has played for a wide range of audience in schools, colleges, clubs, corporate houses and stadiums.
Indian Ocean is the only band in India to have a documentary made on them. The film, titled Leaving Home, was screened in cinema halls all across the country in the summer of 2010.
