Originally one of the Asthadasha (eighteen) Mahapuranas written
by Vyasa Maharshi, the Sivapuranam was translated into Telugu by the late Mudigonda
Nagaveeriah Sastri and published only in 1947. Since then it has been published
four times with the forewords written by some great literary figures like Kavisamrat
Vishwanatha Satyanarayana and Malladi Suryanarayana Sastri.
Sivapuranam, acclaimed as one of the great literary pieces in Telugu, was
published for the 5th time this year, and will be released on the 23rd of November.
The forewords for this edition have been penned by Dr Madugula Nagaphani Sharma,
who is the chairman of the Official Language Commission, Sadguru Kandakuri Sivananda
Murthy and Acharya G V Subramanyam.
The release of this edition of the work is being organized by the Sri Saiva
Mahapeetam. Dr Madugonda Nagaphani Sharma will be the Chief Guest and Dr Pullela
Ramachandrudu will preside over the function. Other eminent personalities present
will be Dr Mudugonda Sivaprasad, Dr Kothapalli Veerabhadra Rao, Sadguru Sivananda
Murthy and Acharya Nirmalasankara Sastri.
