PREVIEW FOR IMAGINE THE STREETS - PHOTO EXHIBITION BY MICHEL MARUCA
The invitation reads John Berger's quote from the 'Ways Of Seeing': "An image
is a sight which has been recreated or reproduced. It is an appearance, or a set
of appearances, which has been detached from the place and time in which it first
made its appearance and preserved for a few moments or a few centuries."
True to each word, this quote explains the could-be-more-than-a-1000-page encyclopedia on art in a few words. Michel Maruca, a French photographer, offers a set of sharp queries in his 'Imagine The Streets' photo exhibition. The specialty of Maruca's photographs is in his ability at creating two successive illuminations, one being his choice of what to shoot and then with the computer manipulations he does on the original picture.
Shot on the street, these photos reverberate the magical realm in which his subjects belong. Michel Maruca's favorite three subjects of interest are children, nature, and the streets.
