Aadarana - The Home For Orphan And Needy Children, Hyderabad, is organizing a dance and music show, Helping Hands & Shining Stars, at 7:30pm on March 13th at the Harihara Kala Bhavan. The evening features performances by the celebrated Telugu singer Hemachandra and his dance troupe.
Hemachandra is internationally known through his participation in Zee TV's Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge 2005. Even though he was the second runner-up, he was widely acknowledged as the best singer with an original voice by several stalwarts of Bollywood, including Subhash Ghai, Aadesh Srivastav and Ismail Darbar.
His mother, Sasikala, is an accomplished singer and Nandi award winner. Although he sings film songs, he has extensive training in both Carnatic and Hindustani classical music. He has regaled audiences with his performances in USA, Canada, the Middle East and Bangkok. In addition to Telugu, he has sung in several languages including Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada and Assamese.
In Telugu, he has sung in hit movies such as Varudu, Kantri, Billa, Mitrudu, Lakshyam, Mahesh Khaleja, Don Seenu, Room Mates, Golconda High School, Ala Modalaindi and Param Veera Chakra.
Aadarana Orphan Home was started with 5 boys, in Sithafalmandi, in 2003. The girls branch was started in 2007. Today, there are 60 boys and girls, split into 2 buildings. The organization runs on donations, and provides children with good education, values and good facilities, including food, shelter and healthcare.
