Goethe-Zentrum Hyderabad, in association with the Hyderabad Film Club, is screening a German movie called Go For Zucker (Alles Auf Zucker), on 8th September, at the Sarathi Studios in Ameerpet.
Conniving wheeler-dealer Jaeckie Zucker is up to his neck in trouble – his wife wants a divorce, the court bailiff is threatening him with jail. The only hope left for the former GDR sports reporter is his mother's inheritance.
In her will, however, she's stipulated that Jaeckie must reconcile his differences with his brother Samuel, an orthodox Jew. As Samuel and his entire clan move into Jaeckie's chaotic household, the clash of civilizations is inevitable. But the two stubborn brothers have no choice – they have to get along.
The movie is directed by Dani Levy, and has Henry Huebchen, Hannelore Elsner, Udo Samel, Golda Tencer and Steffen Groth playing the principal characters. The film won the Best Film, Best Costume Design, Best Score, Best Leading Actor, Best Screenplay and Best Director awards at the German Film Awards 2005, the Ernst Lubitsch Award 2005 for the Best German Comedy and the German Film Critics Award 2005 for Best Screenplay.
