To commemorate its 10th anniversary, Archana Cultural Association is felicitating senior playback singer Uduta Sarojini, on 24th July, at Sri Thyagaraya Gana Sabha. On this occasion, a musical nite featuring old hit numbers of Telugu movies is being organised, in which many professional and semi-professional singers like D A Mitra, V A Rashmi, Venkateshwara Rao, Akhila, Ramana Murthy, Surya Kumari and C Kamala will be participating.
The orchestra for the recital will be provided by Srikanth, Raju and Suryateja on the keyboards, Ramu and Nagaraju on the tabla, and Vinod on the pads.
Uduta Sarojini has sung some hit songs in films like Devadasu and Mangalyabalam. Tonite, she will receive a memento, shawl, saree and cash prize, sponsored by the members of Archana Cultural Association, from the chief guest, Padmabhushan and Gnanpeeth awardee Dr C Narayana Reddy. The other guests for the function are music director Madhavepeddi Suresh, Kuchipudi exponent Dr Shobha Naidu and singer D A Mitra.
Archana Cultural Association was established on 23rd July, 1997, by an officer of United India Assurance, Venkateshwara Rao. Since then, he, along with his friends, all working professionals of the insurance and banking sector, have been working together towards organising good quality musical nites, featuring mostly old hits, every month. All the members of the association are amateur singers, and take part regularly in the association's events.
