If you think education of the masses is a good cause, come and celebrate this man who spread the printed vernacular to the public. Yuvakalavahini is felicitating P Rajeshwar Rao, Publisher of Visalandhra Publishing House, on the occassion of Telugu Basha Dinotsavam (Telugu Language Day), at the mini hall of Sri Thagaraya Gana Sabha, on 29th August.
Visalandhra Publishing House, with deep-rooted connections with the Communist Party of Andhra Pradesh, was established to promote education among the masses.
This is allegedly the only store in Hyderabad that does justice to Telugu literature. A large floor space in the middle of the bustling Bank Street gives book-lovers a reprieve to enjoy some rare copies like novels, poetry, philosophy, biographies, titles with leftist orientations (the Telugu translation of Karl Marx’s Das Capital, for instance), and literature.
Many more of such books find room on their shelves, with the most prominent authors like Gurujada Appa Rao, Sri Sri, Veeresalingam, Shripada Subramanyam, Arudhra and Dasari getting pride of place.
The chief guest of this evening is Dr C Narayana Reddy (Poet, Literary and Cine Songs Writer, movie critic) and Dr Vasireddy Seeta Devi (Literary Writer, Novelist) has been roped in to inaugurate the function, which eill be presided by Dwana Sastry (Literary Writer).
This function is being jointly organised by Yuvakalavahini and Sri Thagaraya Gana Sabha.
