Chitramayee - State Gallery Of Fine Arts is organising an exhibition of paintings by A M Bekwad, from 16th to 22th October. A recent collection of about 20 paintings is on display.
Most of Bekwad's works are landscape paintings, providing a bird's eye view of beautiful locations. Traditionally, artists use acrylic paints on canvas to get the gloss and contrasts of landscapes, but Bekwad has chosen water colors on paper and brought a stunning effect to the appearance. With the right use of colors, he has created the natural difference in early morning daylight, mid-day light, evening twilight and the illuminary nights.
Bekwad is an artist from Bangalore, and did his diploma in drawing and painting from Belgaum, Karnataka. He had his solo shows at the 7th Karnataka Kala Mela in Venkatappa Art Gallery of Bangalore, Shreshta Gallery, Akshana Art Gallery and Karnataka Chitrakala Parishad in Bangalore, Our Lad Of Grace in Goa and Vinyasa Premier Art Gallery in Chennai.
He was awarded the Annual Exhibition Award by the Uma Fine Art Institute, Belgaum, during 1998, 1999 and 2000, for his landscapes, portraits and still life paintings respectively. He also won the Mysore Dasara Award, the Karnataka Lalit Kala Academy Award in 2007, and at the All-India Exhibition in Hyderabad during 2005.
