On the occasion of Euphoria 2008, the annual cultural festival of Vasavi College of Engineering, from 14th to 16th March, 3 famous Indian music groups, Euphoria, Bandish Projekt and Raghu Dixit Project, will perform.
Today, the inaugural day, Euphoria will take stage. Euphoria is headed by professional doctor Palash Sen who is the lead vocalist of the group, and has DJ aka Debajyoti Bhaduri on bass, Binny aka Benjamin Pinto on the keyboards, Rikki aka Hitesh Madan and Gary aka Gaurav Mishra on the guitars, Ashwani Verma on the drums, and Rakesh Bharadwaj and Prashant Trivedi on the dholak and tabla.
Euphoria was instrumental in introducing Hindrock, a melange of Hindi lyrics and Western music, to the Indian audience. Its debut album Dhoom, which was launched in 1998, was a runaway hit, and was followed by launch of Phir Dhoom in 2000, Mantra in 2001, and then Euphoria Gully in 2003. 2004 saw Euphoria collaborating with the Pakistani boys Strings for the Indo-Pak cricket series official anthem, Jeet Lo Dil, that won many hearts.
The band has played in Nepal, Sri Lanka, Dubai, Canada, Mauritius, Thailand and USA. It also performed at the prestigious Beale Street Music Festival in Memphis, the birthplace of Rock 'n' Roll, to 3,00,000 screaming Americans, and at the General Assembly Hall of the United Nations, New York. It was the first band to get in and rock the assembly with music.
