REVIEW FOR ESSENCE OF LIFE - DRAWINGS AND PAINTINGS BY DEVILAL PATIDAR
Kalahita Art Foundation is presenting Essence Of Life, an exhibition of drawings and paintings by Devilal Patidar, from 16th May to 15th June. The exhibition showcases works spanning 18 years of creativity, in which form is given primary significance. The paintings appear as if they are being seen on a Petri dish through a microscope, dissociated from all emotions.
Patidar renders a graphic element to his drawings, with kohl and painting with pigments. While the masks are expressive of a primitive fortitude, the inert organic formations appear from the artist's fascination to linger over a sense of merging. The doors too convey the dilemma of the organic and the inanimate suggesting an entry into another existence.
Devilal Patidar was born on 16th July, 1960, in the village of Sundrel of Dhar District, Madhya Pradesh, and lives and works in Bhopal. He is the Head of the Department of Ceramics in Bharat Bhavan. He has completed his diploma in fine arts from the Indore Art College in 1984.
