REVIEW FOR EDITING THE TRANSFORMATION - PAINTINGS BY SISIR SAHANA
A brush with Sisir guarantees total deliverance from the Mammon.
Kalakriti Art Gallery is hosting an exhibition of paintings, called Editing The Transformation, by Sisir Sahana. The exhibition will be on display till the 7th of December. In his works, Sisir recounts rural life, Nature, and animals that exist despite the onslaught of modernisation. To the artist, the rustic surroundings represent the ‘ancient temples' at Bankura, his native place - weather-beaten yet strong like a rock even after thousands of years.
His ‘Earthscape And Moonscape’, ‘Princess’ and ‘Lost Kingdom’ depict the historicity of objects to man, where the transformation takes place from one object to another, and from tradition to modernity.
‘Living In Age’ on the other hand displays the co-existence of man and animal through the ages. The farmers’ might is brought forth in ‘Strength And Growth’ as much as in ‘Nature And Humankind’.
