Kalasagaram is organising its 41st Annual Cultural Festival of Music, Dance & Drama. The festival starts from 22nd Nov '08 and ends on 30th Nov '08.
On last day of the festival, with an intention to end this festival on a happy note, a social comedy , 'Ananda Bhavanam', will be staged. This drama is written and directed by Nataka Ratna Kalaimamani Kovai K R S Krishnan and the dialogues are penned by Chakravarthy Srinivasan.The drama will be staged by the artists of K R S Troupe.
Kovai K R S Troupe is one of the oldest drama troupes in South India and has completed 41 years of service to the cause of drama. So far, they have staged 54 dramas in more than 3,000 shows. One of the plays, 'Porami', was staged for more than 250 times and was made into a 1 hour tele-film and telecast on DD in the 90s. 4 of their recent plays have also been made into tele-films and telecast on DD, Podigai and Vijay, and 3 dramas were broadcast on AIR.
The leader of the troupe, K R S Krishnan, was awarded the 'Kalaimamani' title by the Govt. of Tamil Nadu in 2003. K R S Troupe successfully staged their dramas at Delhi, Nagpur, Bhopal and Kolkata between 2005-2007, and this is the first time they are performing in the twin cities.
Entry is by tickets, which can be booked in advance. Season passes for the 9-day festival are available for Rs. 400, Rs. 300 & Rs. 200, and daily passes are priced at Rs. 100, Rs. 50 & Rs. 25. Tickets are available at Keyes High School, everyday, from 5:30pm.
