Ardent fans of Dr. C Narayana Reddy's songs, will not want to miss this. Yuvakalavahini is celebrating his birthday, on 29th July, at Sri Thyagaraja Gana Sabha. The celebrations start at 10:30am and continue till 9:30pm in the evening.
The celebrations will feature the songs of the eminent lyricist, Dr. C Narayana Reddy. A collection of songs of the artist will be sung by 14 singers - N D A Mitra, Surekha, Gangadhar, K Venkat Rao, Aamani, V K Durga, Prasanna Lakshmi, Hridaya Bindu, Sarada Sai, Subash, Praveen and Dr. V V Rama Rao. The music programme will go on till 5:30pm, followed by the felicitation of Narayana Reddy by the cheif guests, Dr. Anumandla Bhoymaiah (Vice-Chancellor of Potti Sri Ramulu Vishwa Vidyalayam), Dr. D Ramanaidu (film producer), Dr. J Bapi Reddy (retd. IAS officer) and Saripalli Kondal Rao.
Narayana Reddy was born on July 29th, 1931, in Hanumajipeta (Karimnagar district) in Andhra Pradesh. He completed his Master's degree and Ph D in Telugu literature from Osmania University. He was a professor at Osmania University, and later, entered the film industry in 1962, writing a song for the Gulebaavali Katha. He became famous with the song 'Nannu dochu kunduvate...vannela dorasani'.
Narayana Reddy was nominated to the Upper House of Indian Parliament, Rajya Sabha in August 1997. He is married to Susheela, and has been conferring awards for female writers in the name of 'Susheela Narayana Reddy Award,' every year. He now lives in Hyderabad.
Y K Nageshwar Rao, the president of Yuvakalavahini, is the organizer of the program. Yuvakalavahini was founded in 1975 and conducts programs to promote dance, drama, music and literature.
