Shilparamam, as part of its weekly program of classical music, is organising a devotional vocal concert by Vasantha Subbalakshmi, this Saturday. She will be supported by Nagaraju on the tabla and Shiva on the violin.
Subbalakshmi will start the recital with Bhajamanasa in Bahudari raagam, and will follow that up by Kondalalo Nelakunna in Hindola raagam, Brahmamu Kadigina Paadamu in Mukhari raagam, Kanubadanoyi Shirdi Sai in Bheem Palas raagam, Shirdi Adhigo Baba Adugo in Misracharukesi raagam, a Hindi Bhajan Tuhi Ram Hai, and other bhajans and keertanas, about 15 in total.
Subbalakshmi started learning music from the age of 5. She initially learnt from Dr Nookala Chinna Satyanarayana, and is now a pupil of Vizarsu Balasubrahmanyam. She is also training in light music under Mulagaleti Gopalakrishna. She has completed a Diploma in Carnatic Vocal and Light Music from the Telugu University.
Subbalakshmi has performed at Srisailam, Khammam, Tirupati, Shilparamam, Shankarmath and Sri Thyagaraya Gana Sabha. She has won over 100 prizes at the school, college and university levels, including three gold medals at the State level Annamacharya keertana competitions conducted by the TTD, and the 2nd prize in the Annamacharya keertana competitions conducted by Kalasagaram.
