The Deccan Chargers will play a home match against the Mumbai Indians on 18th May, at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium. Going by the form of the Mumbai team, Harbhajan's ban and the likely absence of Sachin Tendulkar, this encounter seems to be almost a one-sided affair, but as all commentators love to parrot, you can never predict anything in cricket, especially T20.
Deccan Chargers is captained by the prolific Indian test batsman V V S Laxman, and the team has big international stars in Australian big-hitter Adam Gilchrist, South African opener Herschelle Gibbs, Pakistani dynamite Shahid Afridi, New Zealand allrounder Scott Styris, Sri Lankan pacers Chaminda Vaas, Nuwan Zoysa, and the reliable Chamara Silva.
The team also consists of Indian youngsters and seniors such as Rohit Sharma, Pragyan Ojha, Dwaraka Ravi Teja, P Vijaykumar, D Kalyan Krishna, Halhadar Das, N Sarveesh Kumar, Arjun Yadav, Venugopal Rao and Sanjay Bangar. Robin Singh is the coach of the outfit.
Mumbai Indians will be led by Shaun Pollock if Sachin cannot make it. Loots Bosman, Dilhara Fernando, Sanath Jayasuriya, Ashwell Prince, Luke Ronchi, Dominic Thornely, Lasith Malinga, Ankeet Chavan, Siddharth Chitnis, Gaurav Dhiman, Musavir Khote, Dhawal Kulkarni, Abhishek Nayar, Ashish Nehra, Manish Pandey, Rajesh Pawar, Ajinkya Rahane, Rohan Raje, Pinal Shah (wk), Swapnil Singh, Yogesh Takawale (wk), Saurabh Tiwary, Robin Uthappa and Vikrant Yeligati form the rest of the team, and Lalchand Rajput is the coach of the team. West Indian allrounder Dwayne Bravo is not expected to take further part in this tournament as he is back with his national team to play the Australians.
