Each evening, several school students go home to their 'families': traditional, broken up, single-parented, restructured – in a word, the families of today. Here's the story of our world.
The Alliance Francaise of Hyderabad, in association with the Hyderabad Film Club and the French Embassy in India, is screening a French film, Days Off, at the Sarathi Studios in Ameerpet, on 12nd June. The film has been directed by Pascal Thomas.
Day off, through its children, likes to think of itself as a bitter-sweet portrait of our time, as was in its own way, François Truffaut's The 400 Blows, 40 years ago. From Tuesday night till Thursday morning, school pupils live the story of their lives, which is the story of our world. They go home to their 'families': traditional, broken up, single-parented, restructured – in a word, the families of today.
It's into this crazy, crazy world that the school administrator entrusts his flock. It comes as no surprise that it would have been better if he'd left the parents in the children's care.
The entry to the movie is free. Please contact the Alliance Francaise at 2770-0734/2770-0736 or Bh S S Prakash Reddy of the Hyderabad Film Club at 2373-0841/93910-20243 for further details.
