That's Caravana Mizah for the non-Urdu brethern out there. It's literally supposed
to mean a Caravan of comedy or fun, since there will be (figuratively speaking)
a truck-load of comedians here. Like you can guess, it's going to be skits and
jokes. It's old-fashioned comedy, mostly, but it promises to be fun.
To give you a flavor, one of them has a school to which a DEO comes for inspection
and asks the kids who broke the bow of Shiva in the Ramayana. They all reply that
none of them has done it, they are all innocent. Perturbed, the DEO asks the teacher
why the students aren't answering properly, and the teacher replies that they
were all liars, and he was sure one of them had done it. The DEO is quite upset
now, and demands an explanation of the Principal, who says that they should not
make an issue of it, and that even though some student has broken it, he (the
DEO) can cut the expense from his (the Principal's) salary.
There you are - like we said, mostly old-fashioned comedy, fun nevertheless. The
team is what deserves special mention - it has most of the well-known jesters
of the city including Daulat Ram (who's presenting the show), Habid Ali, Hamid
Kamal, Habeeb Quadir and Hanumatha Rao Kola. Each skit will have one theme - Paani
Aaya Bhaago is one on how people of various professions reacted to a rumor
that the city was being flooded, and Bhutte Chor is on people falsely posing
as Mullahs, for instance.
There will also be old and new Hindi film songs by Khan Ather, Sabika Rufi and
Meena in between the various skits. Please contact Khan Ather at 441-2740 for
