Sharada Cultural Trust is organising its 20th Annual Cultural Festival Of Music & The 163rd Aradhana Of Sadguru Sri Thyagaraja Swamy, from 30th January to 7th February, at Keyes High School. The 9-day festival will feature several renowned Carnatic musicians from all the country - O S Thyagarajan, Dr. Ganesh, Sudha Raghunathan, Sanjay Subrahmanyam, Lalgudi GJR Krishnan & Vijayalakshmi, Nityasree Mahadevan, the Hyderabad Sisters and T V Sankaranarayanan - providing a musical fiesta for the Carnatic music lovers of the twin cities

Senior vocalist T V Sankaranarayanan will be performing on the last day of the festival, and accompanying him are his son Mahadevan Sankaranarayanan with the vocal support, Mysore V Srikanth on the violin, Mlakkaveri Balaji on the mridangam and Alathur V Rajaganesh on the kanjira.

A popular Carnatic vocalist, T V Sankaranarayanan was born into a musical family in 1945 in Mayavaram. His maternal uncle was the vocalist Madurai Mani Iyer. TVS got his training from his father T S Vembu Ayyar, as well as from Madurai Mani Iyer.

TVS started singing with his father when he was 15. He was initially set to become a lawyer, and even enrolled in the Madras High Court as an advocate in 1967. But he finally decided to become a musician, and started giving concerts in 1968. He hasn't looked back since then.

TVS owes his popularity to the style developed by his guru and uncle. He usually sings krithis that were favorites of Madurai Mani Iyer. He has received several awards in his long career, including the Padma Bhushan from the Govt. of India and the prestigious title of Sangeetha Kalanidhi in 2003.

The Sharada Cultural Trust is an all-women voluntary organisation that has been rendering yeomen service for the last 19 years in the field of cultural activities. The programs conducted by the organisation include the annual music festival and Thyagaraja Aradhana, annual music competitions, donation of rice to veda pathashalas, and donating money to the Sri Vidya School For Special Children and the Devnar School For The Blind.

Entry is free for everyone. Please contact Sharada Krishnan at 92461-54482 / 98498-02891 for further details.
