Campus Rock Idols needs no introduction to campus crowds - the inter-college music competition is one of the biggest rock contests held every year in India. It is the only event where college bands from across the country compete with each other, vying to be the best campus rock band in the country. Dumping their syllabus in the closet, college competents strip their guitars of their strings, hammer their leather, let down their greasy, unwashed hair, and jump high to catch a piece of the fame pie.
Hyderabad will play host to the regional event, and the winner here will lock its horns with winners from other cities at the regional final at Bangalore. And the winners from the four regional finals shortlisted at Bangalore, Pune, Chandigarh and Kolkata will compete at the grand finale in Goa. The final winning band will have the opportunity to perform alongside international rock icons, The Rasmus of Finland. The runners-up will take home cash prizes and will also win opportunities to showcase their talent. Last year's winner Prestorika had performed with international rock icons like Bryan Adams, The Rolling Stones, Dire Straits, Duran Duran and Sting.
This event is managed by DNA Networks, the country’s leading international music promoter, and is being co-sponsored by Hero Honda and Pepsi. The stakes are high, the competition is fierce and the stage is set. The highlight is the headlining by Sledge, the local band that won Garage Rock. The entry to the event is by free invitation, and passes which can be collected from any of the Planet M outlets in the city. For further details, please call the venue on 5559-0000.
