The Hyderabad Film Club is screening the Korean film, Breath, at Sarathi Studios in Ameerpet, on the 4th of July. Written and directed by Kim Ki-duk, the film runs for 85 minutes, and stars Chang Chen and Park Ji-ah, among others.
Released in 2007, Breath is about a lonely housewife, Yeon, who deals with her depression and anger by having a passionate affair with a convicted man on death row. After discovering her husband’s infidelity, Yeon visits the prison where a notorious condemned criminal, Jin, is confined. She has been following news reports of his numerous suicide attempts, and knows of Jin's crimes. And yet, Yeon treats him like an old lover, putting all her efforts into his happiness, even though she doesn't know him.
The film was nominated at the Palme D'Or Festival De Cannes in 2007, and was also officially selected for the Fantasporto Film Festival in 2008.
