The Hyderabad Film Club and the Friends Of Iran Society, Hyderabad, under the auspices of the Consulate General Of Islamic Republic Of Iran, Hyderabad, are organising an Iranian Film Festival from 26th to 30th October, at the Indira Priyadarshani Auditorium, Public Gardens. 8 films will be screened during the 5-day festival.
Today, the penultimate and 4th day, Boycott will be the second film to be screened. The film is directed by Mohsen Makhmalbaf, and has Majid Majidi, Mohammad Kasebi, Zohreh Sarmadi and Ardalan Shoja-Kaveh playing the central characters.
Valeh is an irregular troop communist. His wife seeks a normal life and opposes the dangerous activities of her husband. When Valeh takes his wife to the hospital for childbirth, he gets arrested, and after being tortured and interrogated in the courthouse, he is sentenced to execution and is sent to the public jail.
In the public jail his friends ask him to die like a hero and make the effort for the continuance of the struggle, but he loses his combat motives despite his friends' advice because when he dies he will no longer be. So he tries to stay alive or at least find a better motive for dying.
