The Federation of Asian Biotech Associations (FABA), in association with the University of Hyderabad and the Government of Andhra Pradesh, is hosting the 4th BioAsia 2007 – The Global Bio Business Forum, facilitating innovative partnerships to explore the latest in biotechnology and bioscience, from 15th to 17th February, at Hyderabad International Convention Centre, Madhapur.
BioAsia 2007 will have an International Conference, a tradeshow, a business forum, a CEO Conclave and a Bio-Banquet. Over 85 exhibitors, 700 conference delegates, 40 international speakers and 3,000 trade visitors from across the globe are expected to participate in this event.
Leading experts in biotechnology from around the world will be present at BioAsia 2007 to speak about the breakthrough advancements in the field of biosciences. The conference program has been detailed out based on industry analysis of the biotech sector and inputs from panel experts. The main thrust of the conference is the Bio-Business forum. The delegate fee for the three-day conference is Rs. 7,000 per head + taxes, and includes food, snacks and tea. In addition to the conference, BioAsia 2007 will have more than 100 exhibiting companies from around the world exhibiting their products, all interested in or focused on life sciences. The exhibition will offer an ideal platform to showcase products, services and technologies, and also provide global business and networking opportunities.
The annual event is also an occasion to recognize & honor eminent personalities from around the world, who contributed significantly to the life sciences industry. The Government of Andhra Pradesh has instituted the Genome Valley Excellence Award during BioAsia 2004. This year Prof G Padmanabhan will be conferred upon the prestigious award for his outstanding contribution in the field of biotechnology.
Prof. Padmanabhan is being honored for his significant contributions in the area of transcriptional regulation of malarial drug metabolizing genes in the liver, mechanism of chloroquine action and its resistance in the parasite. He is a recipient of numerous awards and honors including the S S Bhatnagar Award, the B R Ambedkar Award, the Ranbaxy Award and the G M Modi Award, besides the Padmasri and the Padmabhushan.
To promote the talent and creative spirit among young students and scientists, BioAsia 2007 is introducing an additional feature, The BioAsia Innovation Award for Young Scientists. Young students and scientists below the age of 35 years who are pursuing their studies/research in the area of biotechnology and life sciences are encouraged to send proposals to exhibit their products/innovations which can attract venture capital investments. Ten of the best among the received proposals shall be chosen for exhibition, and free space for putting up their exhibits will be provided. One of the best chosen exhibits will be awarded.
