The Hyderabad Youngmen Association is organising Bhoole Bisre Geet, a Hindi musical nite of old hit numbers, on 13th December, at the Ravindra Bharathi auditorium. Professional singer Poonam Bhatia from Mumbai, and other singers from Hyderabad, will be singing about 20-25 songs from the era of the '70s and the '80s.
Poonam Bhatia has quite a few hits to her credit, especially re-mixes. From a girl of a small-time town in Haryana to a playback singer in Bollywood, Poonam has come a long way. She was interested in music right from her childhood - her mother Devi Kapoori is a Sangeet Visharad. Her initial training was at home under her mother. Poonam then took training in classical music from Madhusudan Timonthy, Pandit Satyanarayan Mishra and Hiran Kamat.
Poonam's voice has been recorded for sound projects by Tips, Sangeet Audio etc. She has recorded in several genres of music, including bhajans, ghazals, and pop. She has worked with renowned music directors in Bollywood that include A R Rahman and Viju Shah.
