Rangadhara Theater stream is presenting a Rashtriya Thenkana Yakshotsava production of Hindi Yakshagaan – Bheeshma Pratignya, on 14th July, at the K V M hall of Marathi Granth Sangrahalaya, Esamia Bazaar.
The idea of Rasthriya Thenkana Yakshotsava was conceived by S K Bhat, the General Secretary of Delhi Karnataka Sangha and Vidya Kolyur, the Director and performer of Yakshamanjusha to promote and popularise this 700 year old art form of coastal Karnataka. As an experiment, Yakshagana was performed for the first time in Hindi all over India in 2005. It was a great success.
In Yakshotsava 2007, Yakshamanjusha will be performing in Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Gujrat, Rajasthan, U.P., West Bengal, Haryana, Punjab, Chandigad, New Delhi, Uttaranchal & Tamilnadu.
Yakshamanjusha troupe has performed Yakshagana at various prestigious like the Central Sangeeth Nataka Academy of New Delhi, CCRT, JNU, IGNCA, EZCC, SpicMacay, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Bharatiya Bhasha Parishath and many more. It has performed in festivals like Hampi Utsav and Mahanadavali Dharmasthala, and has already staged 72 shows in Hindi and became the first ever organisation to present Yakshagana both in Kannada & Hindi.
Having staged nearly 500 shows all over India, Yakshamanjusha is registered with the ICCR, Government of India, and also the recognised artistes of the All India Radio, Mangalore. The artistes of Yakshamanjusha are well trained by the eminent Yakshagana scholar and performer Kolyur Ramachandra Rao and his daughter Vidya Kolyur.
