REVIEW FOR BHAKTA RAMADAS KEERTANAS - A CD RELEASE & CONCERTS
Sri Saraswati Sangeeta Vidyalayam is hosting the CD release of Bhakta Ramadas Keertanas, and music recitals, at Kala Subba Rao Kala Vedika. The program is on 7th August, at 6pm.
Malladi Shanta Murthy has compiled a set of keertanas of the renowned devotee-musician Ramadas, in the form of a veena recital, in a CD. Chief guests, T S R Balakrishna Sastry (musician), Seshayya Sastry (music director) and Pottukuri Sambasiva Rao (member of Vishwasahiti) are all releasing the compilation today.
The evening starts with a live veena recital by Shanta Murthy for 30 minutes, followed by a vocal recital by students of Sri Saraswati Sangeeta Vidyalayam - they are all rendering Ramadas' keertanas.
Kancherla Gopanna, popularly known as Bhadradri Ramadasu or Bhadrachala Ramadasu, was a 17th century Indian devotee of Rama and a composer of Carnatic music. He lived in the village of Nelakondapalli near Bhadrachalam, in Andhra Pradesh, and is renowned for constructing a famous temple for Rama at Bhadrachalam. His devotional lyrics to Rama are famous as Ramadasu Keertanalu.
P Srinivas Sarma is the manager of Sri Saraswati Sangeeta Vidyalayam. His father founded the institution in 1955, and since then, the foundation has been involved in teaching Veena and classical music.
