Mel Gibson, or someone like him, said, "A woman who seeks to be equal to a man in her workplace lacks ambition." Okay, he said something to that effect but the point is that we, for a change, tend to agree with him.
Deepshikha, an organization in its 40th year, is pulling no stops celebrating womanhood. This contest hopes to highlight an oft-neglected aspect of a woman's achievements - her household. After all is she not who makes a home out of a house, and that is why we call her a homemaker?
Homemaking is much more than just looking after kids or cooking meals for her man. It is about relationships that she shares with her in-laws, her interior decorating abilities, her nutrional know-how, and many more things. And these precisely form the judging criteria for the contest - Beauty, Fitness, Nutrition, Relationships, Interior Decoration and Style Sense.
The prelims are to be held on the 15th, and the finals on the 18th. Prizes worth over Rs. 1.25 lacs are being given away to the winner, the 1st runners up and the second runners up. The state's first lady, Mrs. Shinde, will be the Chief Guest for the finals.
