REVIEW FOR BENARAS SERIES - PAINTINGS BY PRAMOD KUMAR
Hyderabadis have always had an appreciation for art. Cashing in on the fervor, is an artist from Bihar.
Born in Pandau, Bihar in 1955, Pramod Kumar did his Diploma in painting at the College of Arts, Patna (1976), and Master’s in fine Arts at Benaras Hindu University, Varanasi (1979). His strong command over lines, colours, and forms creates an exciting visual drama. Like the traditional bas-relief temple structures, his canvases are vibrant with a sense of teeming and burgeoning life. Reality, myths, and fantasy merge in an intensely vibrant and unique manner.
A gold medallist at the Youth Festival Bihar in 1985, he won the 1st prize at the Aurobindo Birth Centenary in 1973, and at the Camlin Pvt Ltd in 1975. He has done solo shows at Sans Tache Art Gallery (1999), Nehru Centre Art Gallery (2001), and Mumbai Nazar Art Gallery (2001) at Baroda.
