In an era where selfishness is a virtue and altruism is meant for the parasites
(thanks to Ayn Rand and her egotistical protagonists who stupidly start asking
'who is John Galt' at the drop of a hat), there are still some beings who think
otherwise. And 'Abhinandana' is a brainchild of one such maverick altruist.
A cultural organization founded in the year 1984 by a lady named Bhavani has, since then, been hosting a number of cultural events belonging to different genres. Bhavani also founded Abhinandana Apna Ghar, a social service organization, in the year 1991, which now has around 30 students who are either orphans or hail from impoverished families. They are provided with free education, food, clothes and shelter. The organization also supports the cause of women and their need to play a greater role in society.
Abhinandana will be organizing an event today called 'Balala Ugadi Puraskaralu', where six children below the age of 15 will receive awards. The children who are receiving awards at this felicitation function are intelligent and have shown enormous talent in the subjects they are learning. The children named below have been short-listed for these awards.
- Uday Kiran (memory display)
- Abhinandana (athletics)
- Venkat Thamesh (mathematical skills)
- Sai Krishna (veena recital)
- Apoorva (painting)
- Abinay (singing)
The Minister for Law and Order, P Chandrasekhar, will felicitate the children,
and this will be followed by a musical program presented by Meduri Saikiran, Abhinay
Thammineni Seetharam, the Minister for Sports, will be the chief guest and the 'Sabha Samrat', Bhaskar Rao, will preside.
