If the awardees are big, then so are the guests. This Sunday evening, spend time with some luminaries of Telugu arts and literature, and perhaps you'll leave with a new zeal.
Kala Ravali is honoring Dr Medasani Mohan and Dr M K Ramu, both highly regarded personalities in the field of literature and poetry, with the Telugu Bhasha Visistha Seva Puraskaram, this Sunday. The awards will be presented at Sri Thyagaraya Gana Sabha.
Dr M K Ramu is a literary writer and a poet. He is also the founder of Rasamayi, a socio-cultural organisation. He has written many poems, which were tuned as beautiful light music songs and sung by many amateur singers.
Dr Mohan had broken all records set in the field of Avadhanam by successfully performing the 30-day Apoorva Pancha Sahasra Avadhanam, organised by Rasamayi, from 18th February to 20th March, at Lalithakala Thoranam. Avadhanam is a kind of exhibition of literary talent where the scholar (avadhani) has to answer questions put forward by the other scholars (prucchakas). The questions can be from any field.
On this occasion, Sriram Kaushik will sing some light music songs written by Dr M K Ramu. The guests for this ceremony are Dr C Narayana Reddy, Padmabhushan and Gnanpeeth Awardee; Dr Akkineni Nageshwara Rao, film star; Sahaja Kavi Dr Mallemala, movie producer; Nannapaneni Rajkumari, President of the women's wing of the Telugu Desam Party; and Acharya Elluri Siva Reddy, Secretary of Andhra Saraswat Parishad and a poet.
