In recognition of their meritorious performances, students hailing from the whole
of Andhra Pradesh will be conferred medals at a function organized by the Mudiraj
Maha Sabha. These awards are given every year in December to students excelling
in academics, sports and arts. The various levels and streams of study from which
students will be honored are SSC, Intermediate, B Sc, B Com, M Com, MBA, Engineering,
MBBS and Ph D. About 130 students in more than 23 categories will be awarded Gold,
Silver and Bronze medals this year.
Students are going to receive their medals (academics only) from Mr Akkineni
Nageshwar Rao. The Home Minister, Mr Devendar Goud will release the Annual Diary,
and the 2001 calendar will be released by Mr T Chandrashekhar, the Minister
of Law and Courts. Mr Krishna Yadav (Commissioner of Labor and Employment) will
give away the sports medals and Mr Nutan Prasad, the medals for arts.
Besides these medals, students will also receive cash awards. The SSC students
will be given Rs 250 and the Inter students, Rs 350. The Graduates and the Post
Graduates will receive Rs 500-750 and Rs 1,000, respectively. The organizers
are also going to give away sewing machines to two poor widows in order to improve
their standard of living.
Apart from the awards distribution, there is also going to be a one hour Bharatanatyam
performance by Noothi Krishnaveni, and a magic show by Mr Ali, who specializes
in performing blindfolded, and he holds a world record, too.
