For the God-fearing Indians, music and devotion complement each other. This would
not have been realized had not a saint been born 593 years ago. No wonder then
that the celebrations of his anniversary have reached their acme.
Annamayya Bhavana Vahini, a project resurrected to promote the message of music and saint Annamacharya, is celebrating his 593rd Birthday celebrations for a 3-day period. On the first day there will be national-level music competitions in the rendition of Sri Annamacharya sankeerthanas. Ramakrishna Math President Swami Paramarthananda will inaugurate the festival.
A recuperative program of ethereal music called "Sankeertanaushadham" will take place on the second day, followed by "Nagara Sankeertana" by the Sri Venkateshwara Swamy temple, Chikkadpally, at the statue of Annamacharya at the Tank Bund. Local singers will participate in this procession starting at 6am on the final day.
Potti Sreeramulu Telugu University Vice-Chancellor Prof N Gopi, Health, Medical and Family Welfare Minister S Aruna and G Pulla Reddy will be the respective chief guests on these 3 days.
