As part of its weekly program of music, Annamacharya Bhavana Vahini is presenting a Carnatic vocal recital by Kuruganti Jayaram, on 1st September, at the ABV premises in Annamayyapuram (Hitex Road). He will be assisted by Kali Varaprasada Rao on the mridangam and Kranthi Kiran on the violin.
Jayaram will start the recital with Nagavulu Nijamani Nammeda in Yemen ragam, followed by Kulukaga Nadavaro in Athana ragam, Kandarpa Janaka in Valaji, Nitya Poojalivigo in Karaharapriya, Mrokketi Gopanganala in Mohana, Namo Narayanaya in Sri ragam, Annitiki Idhi Paramaushadhamu in Suddha Saveri, Chalada Harinamamu in Hansadhwani, Bhavayami in Yeman, Ksheerabdi Kanyakaku in Sri ragam and other keertanas.
Jayaram is a talented lad studying in Class IX in Narayana Concept School, and has been learning music for the last 7 years. He initially learnt from Matrusri Music School for one year, and thereafter from Ganga, a music teacher, for 4 years. Currently, he is under D V Mohankrishna, since the last 3 years.
He has been participating in various music concerts and competitions, like 5 episodes of "Sankeertana", "Paadave Koyila" & "Raagam – Sangeetham" programs in Vissa TV Channel, and two episodes of "Paadaalani Undi" in Maa TV. He won the first prize in the Gopaladas Keerthanas competitions, was selected for participation in the finals by the Madras Telugu Academy, and won the 2nd prize from Kalasagaram in Annamacharya kritis, the 3rd prize from the Sarada Cultural Trust, and the 1st prize from the Pallavi Academy Of Fine Arts in Carnatic music, in addition to many others.
Jayaram passed in the 1st Division in the first 3 years in the Carnatic Musical Examinations conducted by the Akhila Bharatiya Gandharv Maha Vidyalaya Mandal, Mumbai, and passed in the 2nd Division in the 4th year examinations recently. He has attended music workshops organised by G Balakrishna Prasad and Dr. Mangalampalli Balamuralikrishna.
