The only thing that Shahrukh Khan can never have that Dilip Kumar had is Madhubala. As a heroine, that is. No wonder Shahrukh still idolises Dilip saheb. Not only did he romance the most enviable heroines of all time, he even made acting seem ridiculously easy.
That's the reason he bagged almost all the masterpiece movies of his era. Daag is surely one of them. The splendid direction of Amiya Chakravarthy and the fantastic music by Shankar Jaikishen, were almost lost in the classic performance by this legend.
In Daag, he plays the role of an alcoholic that goes to the extremes of buying alcohol instead of medicines for his ailing mother. His love lost, the plot is about the lost sculptor's different shades. Nimmi, as the leading lady, enthralled all by her uncanny knack of coming up with larger-than-life gestures.
The movie's also remembered for that brilliant song by Talat Mehmood, 'E Mere Dil Kahin Aur Chal…'
The screening of this film is a part of the film festival at the Hyderabad Film Club.
