What's the lifetime of a good cause? We don't know, but if it's 16 years old, it's certainly encouraging a lot more. Yes, everyone is happy these people are celebrating tonite.
The 17th anniversary of Kamalakara Memorial Charitable Trust and the 8th anniversary of Mamatha Old Age Home are being held on 15th February at Sri Thyagaraya Gana Sabha, Chikkadpally. The celebrations will feature a Kuchipudi dance recital and a mythological play.
The evening starts at 5:30pm with a Kuchipudi dance ballet recital by Pasumarti Seshubabu and group. The ballet is called Padmavathi Devi Vaibhavam, and will be choreographed by Pasumarti Seshubabu. Seshubabu is the son and disciple of the legendary Pasumarti Venugopala Sarma. He has performed at various places in India and abroad. He is founder of Kuchipudi Nritya Bharathi, started in 1985, where he and his wife Raja Rajeshwari teach Kuchipudi, vocal, veena and violin.
At 6:30pm, a mythological play, Sri Shirdi Saibaba Mahatyam, will be staged by Sri Sai Vijaya Natya Mandali from Guntur. The music, direction and screenplay is by Surabhi Leela Papa Rao. The play has been staged for more than 150 times and won the Golden Nandi Award from the Govt. of Andhra Pradesh. Leela Paparao enacts Shirdi Saibaba in this play. He also happens to play the same role in the hit movie of the same name.
The chief guest for the evening is Pinnamaneni Venkateshwara Rao, Minister for Higher Education, Govt. of AP. The other guests are Gopinatha Reddy, Director, A P Police Academy; Dr Rallabandi Kavitha Prasad, Director, A P Cultural Department; Dr Uma Rama Rao, Senior Dancer and Director of Lasya Priya Dance Academy; and Yarlagadda Sailaja, Asst. Station Director, Doordarshan Hyderabad.
Kamalakara Memorial Charitable Trust was founded in 1990, and has done untiring service in the field of education for poor children, establishment of old age and children homes, health centres etc. In this endeavor, it came up with Vikas Bharathi School in 2001, and Mamatha Old Age And Children Home in 1999. The trust also lends a helping hand, both financially and in deed, for natural calamaties like floods and storms.
